What does RVSM stand for?

RVSM stands for Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums. This is a set of regulations under which aircraft are provided with reduced vertical separation between them in the flight levels of the upper airspace. Traditionally, aircraft operating at altitudes above 29,000 feet were required to maintain a vertical separation of 2,000 feet. However, under RVSM regulations, this separation is reduced to 1,000 feet between aircraft flying between 29,000 and 41,000 feet.

The implementation of RVSM allows for increased air traffic capacity and more efficient use of the airspace, while still maintaining safety in operations.
